Send Your Name to Mars!

July 16th, 2009 Comments off

Yes, you read that absolutely correct. Mars Science Laboratory, a laboratory with NASA, is inviting everyone to send their names, stored in a microchip, to Mars on their robot that is heading to Mars in 2011. This is a part of the effort to promote NASA missions among general public. Previous missions had followed similar schemes, for example the STARDUST Project sent more than a million names to outer space.

According to NASA, Mars Science Laboratory is part of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort for robotic exploration of the red planet. The rover will assess whether Mars ever was, or is still today, an environment able to support microbial life. In other words, its mission is to determine the planet’s “habitability.”

To send your name, simply visit this page and enter your Name and Country in the form. Here is a certificate for the entry of Rangeen Chara; Rangeen Chara is going to Mars!

Nepali Calendar and Clock for Your Blog or Web-site

July 1st, 2009 Comments off

If you run a blog or web-site for the Nepalese community, you would probably like to display Nepali calendar and clock in it. This is very useful to visitors who are outside Nepal.

I spent some time to compose a ‘Gadget’ that combines Nepali Calendar, a clock and a GIF image of a person carrying Nepali flag as you can see on the right. The Gadget uses following modules:

1. Nepali Calendar from
2. Clock from and
3. GIF image from Rangeen Chara (We host the image, we did not create it!)

If you want to embed this Gadget in your website or blog, simply Copy and paste the following code in your website where you want to display it.

Copy the code above and paste it in your blog/website where you want the gadget to be displayed. Its that easy!
