एक छिन हाँसौ – another Nepalese viral-video

May 6th, 2009 2 comments

A 16-month old political video has suddenly gained the viral-video status in the Nepalese community during the last few days. While the content of the video presents condemnable facts about the Maoists, the fact that this video has been given “exclusive” publicity immediately after a series of sensitive political development needs to be considered by all of us.

The video I am presenting here is different. I decided to post it here despite some indecent language and I advise that only people of age 13 and above view it. I am just trying to be responsible here by alerting those who care! Your suggestions in this regard are welcome.

I wish I could find some information about the performer, the camera-man or even the context of the video. I found this video in Facebook with-out any clue and am embedding it here as is. If any of you out there have additional information about this video, please be kind to share it with us. This video and the performer both deserve recognition!

Ramailo Nepal : Nepali cartoon series in the making

April 6th, 2009 Comments off

There is hardly any other thing that captures kids attention more than cartoons. Wouldn’t it be great if those of us living abroad with kids could educate them about Nepal and Nepali language by showing cartoons? Ramailo Nepal is one such effort from yantrakala, a group of folks based in UK and Nepal. Sanyukta, the founder of yantrakala, is a good friend of mine and I have been in touch with Ramailo Nepal since the conception.

Ramailo Nepal is being developed as a series of 12 episodes where a number of kids travel to 12 different destinations in Nepal exploring Nepalese diversity. The group ran a survey to come up with the list of 12 destinations that the kids would visit during the series. The development is still in early stages with the first episode expected to be released in early 2010. They just released a short promotional teaser in YouTube that I am embedding here upon their request.

Lets hope that the team would do justice to the overwhelming facts about different Nepali destinations and that we can get hold of the series soon. If you do not know what to expect from yantrakala, you might want to see a previous post in Rangeen Chara where I posted another heart touching animation ‘Gaun Chhodda‘ from them.

Good luck to the team from all of us at Rangeen Chara!
